Memorial Service1:00 PM ,Saturday, September 14, 2019Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson 505 13th St. N Benson, MN 56215 Mildred Emma Collins was born July 31, 1920 in Grafton, North Dakota, the daughter of Albert Louis Joseph Pariseau and Marte “Myrtle” Sophia Johnson. She was raised in the St. Thomas area, graduating from St. Thomas High School, Class of 1938. On September 5, 1939 Mildred was united in marriage to Raynold Clifford Collins. This union was blessed with three children: Clifford, Peggy, and Deborah. Mildred radiated her love for life and enjoyed the happiness she created with her sense of humor and wit. She was always there to lend a helping hand and was a champion for her children, the down-trodden and people with challenges. Mildred loved the Minnesota Twins. She would yell at the pitcher and always when there was a home run. She recruited Debbie when her hearing and sight became problematic. She rarely missed a game. Her favorite pastime was canning, baking, and creating special events for the enjoyment of others. She especially enjoyed hosting family for Holidays and special occasions. Mildred was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in St. Thomas, ND and a member of Pilgrim Congregational UCC in Benson. Over the years she was involved in many church and community events. She was a 50 year member of the order of Eastern Star. She worked at JC Penny in Grafton, ND for over 20 years, along with being active in Girl Scouts, 4-H and Rainbow for girls. Mildred was also an active member and officer of Pioneer Daughters of North Dakota, and the Pembina County Historical Society. Mildred lived at Park View Manor since she moved to Benson in 1982.
Mildred passed away Friday, September 6, 2019 in Meadow Lane Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Benson. She attained 99 years, 1 month, and 5 days of age. Mildred is survived by her children: Clifford Collins of Northfield, Peggy (Duaine) Flanders of Benson, Deborah Collins of Benson; five grandchildren: Stephanie (Marcus) Flanders-Martin, Sue Ellen (Brad) Hodnot, Bruce (Nadine) Flanders, Jennifer (Paul) Schmidt, and Andrea Collins; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Peggy Ann Jossart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raynold Collins; parents, Albert and Myrtle Pariseau; sister, Virginia; brothers: Hubert and Dallas; and grandson, Brian.
