Sadie Radtke, age 98, of Appleton, formerly of the Correll area, died Monday, July 29th in Appleton Area Health Services – Care Center. Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m., followed by a funeral at 2 p.m., on Monday, August 5th at Grace Lutheran Church in Correll. Burial will follow in the Appleton City Cemetery.
Sadie Bertha Radtke was born June 2, 1921 on the home farm in Moyer Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the daughter of Harry and Bertha (Winkleman) Fischer. She was baptized June 26, 1921 and was confirmed on April 14, 1935 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Moyer Township. Sadie was raised in Moyer Township and attend Holloway High School where she graduated, Class of 1939.
On November 2, 1941 Sadie was united in marriage to Alfred Radtke at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Moyer Township. This union was blessed with over 58 years together and three sons: George, Alfred, and Bruce. The couple raised their family in the Correll area where they also farmed for roughly 40 years. They moved to Moorhead for several years and then moved to Appleton in 1985 when they retired.
Sadie was a member of the Akron Flower Club and Grace Lutheran Church in Correll, where in her younger years she was active with the Ladies Aid and was the oldest living member of the Congregation. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, sewing, reading, and family genealogy.
Sadie passed away Monday, July 29, 2019 in Appleton Area Health Services – Care Center. She attained 98 years, 1 month, and 27 days of age. Sadie is survived by two sons: Alfred “Al” (Pat) Radtke of Ortonville and Bruce (Julie) Radtke of Estherville, IA; six grandchildren: Ryan (Molly) Radtke, Blaine (Jennifer) Radtke, Vanessa (Greg) Savoie, Kirk (Kristie) Radtke, Christine Van Wyhe, and Kent Radtke; six great-grandchildren: Josey (Matthew) Arends, Eli Radtke, Huxley Radtke, Karlee Radtke, Gavin Van Wyhe, Riley Savoie; one great-great-granddaughter, Hazel Arends; sister, Vera Mae (Clinton) Sperr of Moses Lake, WA; sister-in-law, Louise Fischer of Appleton; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Bertha Fischer; husband, Alfred in 2000; infant son, George Radtke; sisters: Doris Sachs, Verda Delgehausen, Bernice Giese; and brother, LeRoy Fischer.
