Dale Allan Burns was born on October 21, 1952 in Benson, MN and died July 24th, 2019, he was 66 years old. He was baptized at Swift Falls Lutheran Church (now Shepherd of the Hills) and confirmed at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church. He spent a great deal of his childhood on his grandparents’ farm in rural Swift Falls, MN. He was a quiet child and very good sneak, so Uncle Milton gave him the nick name “Pussy Cat” and it stuck with him.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army 1971. He had a variety of jobs in his life and lived in California, Hawaii, Nevada, Florida, Oregon and Minnesota. He married Darlene Stubblefield in 1978, but later divorced. He was a long-haul truck driver and for many years he worked for Health Examinetics Inc. He drove on a majority of the Interstates and highways that crisscrossed the United States, and he made it to every state except Alaska. He enjoyed good conversation and told stories that had good humor. Dale gave up the life on the road and bought a house in Benson and was very helpful to his mother, as he was key to helping her stay in her home. He enjoyed his friends, though he was a very private person, and he was a bit of a prankster. He loved to go to garage sales and was quite the collector, which was a stark contrast to living out of 3 suitcases and duffel bag while on the road for over 20+ years.
He was preceded in death by his father John W. Burns, stepfather Helmer J. Offerdahl, brothers Donald E. Burns and Steven R. Offerdahl, and grandparents.
He is survived by his mother Anna C. Offerdahl, his sister Sharon (Scott) Offerdahl Ketchum, nephews: Sean Paul Burns, Jeff (Sherley Xq) Offerdahl, Matt (Angie) Offerdahl, niece Jennifer (Mike) Offerdahl Anderson, great nephew Shane Burns, great great nephew Daven Burns, and dear friend Marla Forbord.
