Clarice Corrine Schroeder

Clarice Corrine Schroeder was born October 8, 1923 in Benson, Minnesota, the daughter of Elmer and Tillie (Tostenson) Flaten.  She was baptized October 29, 1923 by Rev. Farde and was confirmed September 19, 1937 by Rev. Beito, both at Rolling Forks Lutheran Church.  Clarice was raised in the Swift Falls area, where she attended Country School.  She was later enrolled at the Benson High School where she graduated.

On November 19, 1944 Clarice was united in marriage to Fillmore Wallace Schroeder by Rev. A.C. Johnson in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.  This union was blessed with over 63 years together and five children: Bonnie, Dennis, David, Pat, and Dan.  Clarice and Wally made their home in Appleton, where they raised their family.

Clarice took care of the home while Wally worked at the post office.  She later worked at the Rexall Drug Store for a time.  Clarice loved music, and enjoyed knitting, cross stitch, sewing, and reading.  She was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton, where she was a member of the Choir and the Ladies Aid.  Clarice was also a member of the Birthday Club and Music Club.

Clarice passed away Sunday evening, July 7, 2019, in the Appleton Area Health Services –Care Center.  She attained 95 years, 8 months, and 29 days of age.  Clarice is survived her children: Bonnie (Doug Lind) Kaster of Maple Plain, Dennis (Linda Harms) Schroeder of Big Stone City, SD; David (Lavonne) Schroeder of Moorhead, Pat (Terry) Swenson of Appleton, and Dan (Patti Walsh) Schroeder of Princeton; 10 grandchildren: Jill (Jay Johnson) Yaeger, Amy (Mark) O'Leary, Danielle (Evan) Sieling, Kelsey Schroeder, Kim (Mike Muniz) Buhay, Nichole (Brad) Krueger, Troy (Missy) Swenson, Eric (Abby) Swenson, Sam Schroeder, Sara Schroeder; 14 great-grandchildren: Katie and Kristin Yaeger, Aidan and McKenna O'Leary, Anissa and Jacob Buhay, Brayton, Breanna, and Blake Krueger, Addie, Gabe, and Ethan Swenson, Max and Zoe Swenson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, F. Wallace Schroeder in 2007; parents, Elmer and Tillie Flaten; sisters: Alvera Haugen and Harriet Mortenson; brother, Elroy Flaten.
