Tillie Thompson

Tillie Thompson, age 96, of Little Falls, formerly of Appleton, died Thursday, June 13, 2019, in Highland Senior Assisted Living in Little Falls.  Visitation will be held 10-11 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 19th at First United Methodist Church in Appleton.  Pastor Brenda King will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Appleton City Cemetery.

Tillie Thompson was born October 7, 1922 in Rheiderland Township, Chippewa County, Minnesota, the daughter of Diedrick and Tillie (Becker) Aeikens.  She was baptized December 3, 1922 at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City, Minnesota.  Tillie was raised in the Clara City and Maynard area, where she also attended school.  On September 1, 1946 she was united in marriage to Robert A. Thompson in Balaton, Minnesota.  This marriage was blessed with the births two children: Karla Jane and Keith Alan.

Tillie worked for over 20 years as an operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and also worked several years for Kack Drug, both in Appleton.  Tillie was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Appleton where she was active with U.M.W.  She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary (Life Member and Past President), the American Legion Auxiliary, and the E.T.C. Sewing Club.  After retirement Tillie volunteered for many years at the Home-To-Home Thrift Store, delivered meals-on-wheels, and was active with the V.F.W. Auxiliary and many church activities.

Tillie passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019 in Highland Senior Assisted Living in Little Falls.  She attained 96 years, 8 months, and 6 days of age.  Tillie is survived by her son, Keith (Susan) Thompson of Little Falls; son-in-law, David Erickson of Nisswa; 3 grandchildren: Jessica (Patrick) Leeney, Justin (Kelly) Erickson, and Gillian (Greg) Myers; 6 great-grandchildren: Vivian Leeney, Ben and Sam Erickson, Graham, Greyson, and Georgia Myers; brother-in-law, David (Jewel) Thompson of Blaine; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Diedrick and Tillie Aeikens; her husband, Robert “Bob” Thompson in 1997; her daughter, Karla in 1994; six brothers and five sisters.
