Donald Anthony Wilts

October 16, 1933 — May 16, 2019

Donald Anthony Wilts was born October 16, 1933 in Murdock, Minnesota, the son of Anthony Frederick and Ethel Louise (Lundberg) Wilts. He was baptized August 5, 1934 at Clara City Reformed Church by Rev. Wildryer and was confirmed July 18, 1948 at Drywood Lutheran Church by Rev. William F. Peterson. Don grew up in rural Appleton-Hegbert Township, Swift County, Minnesota and graduated from Appleton High School. On May 30, 1957, Don was united in marriage to Eunice Mae Swenson at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Appleton by Rev. Paul Abner Gustafson. This union was blessed with more than 58 years of marriage.

Don lived in the Murdock area until he was 8 years old. His family then moved to Hegbert Township in 1941 and he remained there until he entered the United States Army in 1956. After his military service, he farmed for a short time in Artichoke Township until moving to Benson in December of 1959. He worked for Ken Weber hauling canned milk. In 1961 he started working at TCI and then in 1966 he began at Agralite as a lineman. He remained there until his retirement. Don was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the Church Council. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, gardening, and watching sport events. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their activities.

Don was called from this life on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at his home in Benson, Minnesota, under Rice Hospice Care. He attained the age of 85 years and 7 months. He is survived by his three children: Janet (Jon) Ohmacht of Glenwood, Julie (Bruce) Larson of Glenwood, and Timothy (Leah) Wilts of Alexandria; eight grandchildren: Tony (Missi) Ohmacht, Monica (Jason) Olson, Daniel (Heather) Ohmacht, Thomas Ohmacht, Darcie (Jesse) Mathwig, Ben (Bethany) Larson, Spencer (Jessica) Wilts, and Katie (Josh) Hedstrom; sixteen great-grandchildren: Bria and Ayden Ohmacht, Gavin, Carson, Macoy and Griffin Olson, Laikyn Ohmacht, Blaine, Piper and Grady Mathwig, Rylie and Allie Larson, Jack and Mara Wilts, and Brock and Brielle Hedstrom; siblings: Stanley Wilts of Appleton, Gloria (Charles) Giese of Benson, and Charles (Darlene) Wilts of Benson.
