Mary Beth Langaard

On Thursday May 2, 2019, at the age of 66, Mary Beth Langaard, daughter, sister, friend, and resident of Prairie View in Slayton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by those that love her.  She will forever be remembered by her family at Prairie View.

Mary Beth Langaard was born on December 22, 1952 in Benson, Minnesota, the daughter of Donald and Mary M. (Kellner) Langaard.  In 1955, Mary resided at Julie Billiort Home in Jackson until her move to the Cambridge State Hospital in 1958.  Mary resided there until her move Prairie View in Slayton in October, 1985.

Mary attended work at the Murray County DAC in Slayton from October of 1985 until an unexpected decline in her health in March of 2019. At work, Mary participated in leisure activities.  She particularly enjoyed getting her hair brushed and listening to the Sound of Music. Mary enjoyed quiet spaces, yet loud music, eating sweets, and interacting with those around her. She always had a preference for familiar faces.

Mary is survived by her siblings: Cheryl Lindmeyer of St. Louis Park, Tim (Jill) Langaard of St. Louis Park, and Tom (Sue) Langaard of Alameda, CA; peers of many years, and loving staff. She was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Mary Langaard.  Blessed be the memory of Mary Beth Langaard.
