Ione Elaine Schlueter

Ione Schlueter, age 91, of Appleton, died Saturday, March 30th in Appleton Area Health Services –Care Center.  Visitation will be held 4-6 p.m., followed by a Prayer Service at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 4th, at Zniewski Funeral Home –Vaala Chapel in Appleton.  Burial will be in Louisburg Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.

Ione Elaine Schlueter was born July 24, 1927 in Madison, Minnesota, the daughter of Herman and Maria (Sumner) Feuser.  Ione was raised in Bellingham, where she graduated, Class of 1946.  On November 19, 1950 she was united in marriage to Russell Schlueter in Louisburg.  This union was blessed with over 53 years together and two sons: Craig and Jeff.

After some schooling for banking, Ione worked at banks in Minneapolis, Madison, Milan, Bellingham and then at Prairie State Bank in Appleton, until her retirement.  Ione and Russ farmed east of Bellingham from 1964–1994, when they returned to Appleton.  She enjoyed bingo, traveling, and decorated beautiful custom cakes for many years for family and friends.  Ione was a very social person and in her younger years was very active in the Louisburg Lutheran Church.

Ione passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 in Appleton Area Health Services –Care Center.  She attained 91 years, 8 months, and 6 days of age.  Ione is survived by her sons: Craig (Dawn Bunting) Schlueter of Milbank, SD and Jeff (Julie Bergh) Schlueter of Madison; 7 grandchildren: Ryan Schlueter, Heidi (Derek) Steffen, Nathan (Jasmine) Schlueter, Shannon (Michael) Young, Jesse Schlueter, Kristin (Josh) Ludvigson, and Nick Schlueter ; 8 great-grandchildren: Jenika, Austin, Keira, Issac, Ryan, Ben, Kyle, and Jace; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell in 2004; her parents, Herman and Maria Feuser; and her parents-in-law, Leonard and Emma Schlueter.
