Clarice Ann Stock

Clarice Ann (Hamann) Stock was born on November 7, 1934 on her parents’ farm in Tara Township, Swift County, Minnesota, to parents William and Elfrieda (Schliep) Hamann.  She was baptized on December 9, 1934, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairfield Township, MN.  She was confirmed on March 21, 1948, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shible Township by Pastor Paul Gierke.  Clarice attended country school grades 1-7 at District 99, rural Holloway, MN.  She attended 8th grade at District 42 Parochial School near Immanuel Lutheran Church when her parents bought a farm in Shible Township. Clarice attended Appleton High School, Appleton, MN, for grades 9-12 and graduated May 29, 1952.  On December 28, 1952, Clarice married her high school sweetheart, Virgil Ray Stock at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shible Township, by Reverend G.E. Walter.  This union was blessed with over 64 years of marriage and six children: Douglas, Micheal, Jeffrey, Debra, Lori, and Paul.

Clarice was a devoted wife and mother.  She went to North Carolina with Virgil when he was in the Army.  They moved back to Appleton, MN to raise their family. Clarice was a stay at home mother and worked side by side with Virgil on the farm until 1959. They then purchased S & S Trucking.   Clarice also worked at Kack Drug in Appleton.  In 1975, they started Star Trailer Sales, North Mankato, MN, and lived there until retirement in 1995.  They retired back in their hometown of Appleton, MN.  They enjoyed winters in Sun City, AZ, where they played lots of golf and cards with many friends.

Clarice was an avid golfer and bowler playing in different leagues.  After watching her kids play ball for many years, she picked up a bat and joined the over 50 Women’s Softball League in Mankato, MN.  Clarice was a member of the American Legion Auxillary, Appleton Jaycee Women, Appleton Golf Course, and Ridgerunners Snowmobile Club.  She taught Sunday School and Bible School at Immanuel and Trinity Lutheran Churches. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and choir at Immanuel and LWML at Trinity Lutheran.  Clarice always enjoyed spending time with family.  She loved going to watch her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in their activities.  She also enjoyed spending time with all her nieces and nephews.

Clarice passed away at home on March 23, 2019 at the age of 84 years. Clarice is survived by her six children: Douglas (Karna) Stock of Mankato, Micheal Stock of Appleton, Jeffrey (Beverly) Stock of North Mankato, Debra (Todd) Sandberg of Ortonville, Lori (Ted) Ziemann of Appleton, Paul (Cindy) Stock of North Mankato; 18 grandchildren: Caleb (Christina) Stock, Garrett (Daniela) Stock, Matthew (Mandy) Stock, Maria Krohnberg, Meagan (Joey) Dobie, Jocelyn (Tim) DeSutter, Jacob (Cassie) Stock, Allie Jo (Nick) Wilson, Alicia (Ryan) Poole, Travis Sandberg, Zachary Jensen, Rachel Jensen, Noah Jensen, Eric Ziemann, Joshua Ziemann, Graham (Christa) Stock, Isaiah Stock, and Avery Stock; 17 Great-grandchildren: sisters: Lorraine Meichsner of Morris  and Angela Hoffman of Wheaton; sisters-in-laws: Carol Hamman of Appleton, Phyllis Harste of Morris, LaDonna Stock of Granite Falls, special friends Marv and Kay Koosman, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil; her parents William and Elfrieda Hamann; brother, Dale Hamann; and grandson Jordan Stock.
