Kenneth "Kenny" L. Schlieman

Kenneth Leroy Schlieman was born February 15, 1952 in Appleton, Minnesota, the son of Harry and Evelyn (Gaulke) Schlieman.  He was baptized April 15, 1952 and was confirmed June 5, 1966, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church –Shible Township.  Kenny was raised in the Appleton area, graduating from Appleton High School, Class of 1970.  After high school, Kenny enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard and received his Basic Training at Ft. Polk, Louisiana.  He was honorably discharged April 9, 1978 as a Sp5, SVC Btry 1st BN 175 AB.

Kenny lived in Andover, Minnesota for a couple of years, working on a turkey farm.  He moved back to Appleton and was married to Brenda Eischens.  Kenny held a number of jobs in Appleton,  including a partnership in Mobile Service for a short time, worked part-time for Schmidt Farms, drove truck for Ascheman’s, worked at Prairie Correctional Facility, mowed lawns, and bartended / cleaned at Shooter’s and the Paddle Bar.

Kenny enjoyed fishing, listening to country music, and doing karaoke.  He loved watching western movies, reading western books, and especially enjoyed reading books by James Patterson.  Kenny owned boxes of books, tapes, CD’s and movies!

Kenny passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 in Olivia Rehabilitation & Care Center in Olivia.  He attained 67 years and 23 days of age.  Kenny is survived by his siblings: Connie (Donald) Tofte of Benson, Linda (George) Huseby of Cambridge, and Randy (Shar) Schlieman of Helena, MT; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; aunts: Renetta Lindstrom of Appleton and Renetta Schlieman of Benson; uncle, Elroy Schlieman of Willmar; cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Evelyn; his brother, Douglas; his sister, Bonnie; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
