Delaine Lene, 85, of Benson, Minn., died Monday, March 4, 2019, at Meadow Lane Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2019, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson. Visitation will continue 10 – 11 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 11 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2019, at Our Redeemer’s. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
Delaine Ann Lene was born on December 30, 1933 in Gilchrist Township, the daughter of Peder Johan and Dena Marie (Amundson) Pederson. She was baptized January 14, 1934 by Rev. G.G. Beito in rural Sedan, MN. Delaine was confirmed June 20, 1948 by Rev. J. Magnus Rohne at Rolling Forks Lutheran Church in rural Pope County. She grew up in the Sedan/Glenwood area and graduated Country School #34 and Glenwood High School. On November 25, 1956, Delaine was married to Charles Lene at Rolling Forks Lutheran Church by Rev. J. Magnus Rohne. They lived and farmed in the rural Benson area. Delaine was employed at Breen’s Pharmacy for 23 years.
Delaine was a member of Rolling Forks Lutheran Church from 1933 to 1956 and was a member of the Choir, a Sunday School Teacher, and helped with youth activities. She was a member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church from 1956 to 2019 and was a member of Our Redeemer’s Women: Altar Guild, Mission Circle, Bible Study Circle, Executive Board, Work Unit Chairperson, and Smorgasbord. Delaine was also a member of the Sons of Norway from 1997 to 2019. Among the many things she enjoyed were latch hook, crocheting, baking, and spending time with family and friends enjoying a cup of coffee.
Delaine passed away Monday, March 4, 2019, at Meadow Lane Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She attained the age of 85 years, 2 months, and 4 days. She is survived by her daughter Marie (David) Fett of Willmar; sister-in-law Carol Toutge of Willmar; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Peder and Dena Pederson; husband Charles Lene on May 20, 1997; four brothers: Raymond, Palmer (Eleanor), Phillip (Joyce), and Richard Pederson; brother-in-law Richard Toutge; and son-in-law Mike Lang. Blessed be the memory of Delaine Ann Lene.
