Lucille Mae Ronning was born February 16, 1927 in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was raised by her mother, Ella Larson, in the Puposky and Bemidji Minnesota areas, where she also attended school.
On February 16, 1947 she was united in marriage to Orwald Melvin Ronning. This union was blessed with over 53 years together and two daughters: Mary and Susan. They farmed north of Appleton, in Hegbert Township, until 1987 when they moved to Appleton. Lucille was a long-time “Grandparent” at the Appleton Elementary School and was known as “Grandma Lucy” to many area children. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, gardening, and watching the MN Twins.
Lucille passed away Tuesday morning, February 26, 2019 in her home. She attained 92 years and 10 days of age. Lucille is survived by her daughters: Mary Lee (Louis) Vann of Stillwater and Susan Ronning of Morris; granddaughter, Laura (Aaron) Connor; great-grandson, Oskar Connor; sister, Mildred Peck of International Falls; brothers: Edward Hovde of Seattle, WA, Gordan Hovde of Bemidji, Donald (Elaine) Hovde of Puposky, and Arthur Hovde of Bemidji; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orwald on April 7, 2000; her mother Ella Hovde; step-father, Emil Hovde; sisters: Nora Hendrickson and Jenny Warner; and step-sister, Edna Beveridge.
