James Andrew Lye was born on December 11, 1942, at the Swift County Hospital in Benson, Minnesota, the son of Bennie and Helen (Larson) Lye. He was baptized and confirmed at the West Bank Lutheran Church. He grew up in the Danvers Minnesota area and attended country school in District #62 and Benson High School. James served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After the War he returned to the farm in Marysland Township.
Farming was something Jim truly loved, it was his life. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Danvers Liquor Store. In visiting with Jim you were sure to hear him share his favorite saying “Goldarn type of thing.” He was called from this life on Sunday evening, December 30, at the Swift County Benson Hospital. He attained the age of 76 years and 19 days.
He is survived by his brother Edward (Ruth) Lye of Akron, Colorado; his sister Gloria (Dwayne) Preheim, of Parker, South Dakota, 2 nieces, 4 nephews, and several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Bennie and Helen and his brother Donald “Doc” Lye. Blessed be his memory.
