Allen William Lesteberg was born on October 14, 1947, in Benson, Minnesota, the son of Walter and Isobel Casper Lesteberg. He was baptized at St. Francis Catholic Church and was confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock. He grew up in Benson and on the farm north of Murdock, Minnesota. He attended country school District #66 and graduated from Kerkhoven High School. Allen served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He recieved the purple heart.
Allen was married and divorced and the union was blessed with Lisa and Shane. On May 4, 1977, he was united in marriage to Jean Jensen, the mother of Chris and Rick, in Milbank, South Dakota. This union was blessed with over forty one years of marriage and their daughter Liz.
They made their home north of Murdock and he worked as a truck driver, a farmer, a welder, and as quality control at Lorenz Manufacturing, where he retired. Allen enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, and telling stories. He loved to spend time with his family especially his grandchildren. He was called from this life on Saturday morning, December 22, 2018, at his home in Kildare Township, Swift County. He attained the age of 71 years, 2 months, and 8 days.
He is survived by his wife Jean of DeGraff; his children Lisa (Donnie) Pederson of Fort Worth, Texas, Christopher Bartz of Benson, Shane (Samantha) Lesteberg of Meridian, Idaho, Rick Bartz of Benson, and Liz (special friend Josh Rein) of Kerkhoven; grandchildren, Andrew (Janessa) Pederson, Kaytlin (Peter) Westerberg, Devon Pederson, Cody Pederson, Hope (Chad) Kingsley, Ren Pederson, Samuel Pederson, Christian Bartz, Marissa Bartz, Noah Bartz, Ethan Lesteberg, Cameron Voorhees, Cooper Lesteberg, Zoey Lesteberg, Damien Bartz, Morgan Lee and Mackenzie Lee; great grandchildren, Faith, Freya, Elsa, and A.J. Pederson, Liam, Oden, and Everett Westerberg; three sisters, Karen (Eugene) Wentzel of Murdock, Darlene (Whitey) Kloeppner of Bemidji, and Mary Lesteberg of Colorado; and several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Isobel and his mother and father in law Donald and Gladys Jensen. Blessed be his memory.
