Vernette DeAnne Ehrenberg was born on October 22, 1938, in Big Bend Township, Chippewa County, the daughter of Simon and Clarice (Mickelson) Jorgenson. She was baptized on November 20, 1938 at Big Bend Lutheran Church by Rev. CT Jenson. She grew up in Big Bend, attended country school in Big Bend, and graduated from Milan High School.
On June 28, 1958, Vernette was united in marriage to Dale Donald Ehrenberg at Big Bend Lutheran Church. They lived in St. Paul, Minnesota for a time where she and Dale were foster parents. In the late 1970’s they returned to Big Bend and farmed the home place for many years. She worked at Moe’s Hardware and in the school system where she was known as Grandma Nette.
She was a member of the Big Bend Lutheran Church and served as the Church organist for twenty plus years. Music was a passion of hers. Vernette loved her grandchildren and she enjoyed visiting with friends. She was called from this life on Tuesday morning, November 27, 2018 at the Glen Oaks Care Center in New London. She attained the age of 80 years, 1 month, and 5 days.
She is survived by her four children: Dale (Bethany) Ehrenberg of Northome, Jill (Tracy) Wagner of Milan, Tami (Terry) Swanson of New London, and Dean (Val) Ehrenberg of Heron Lake; 13 grandchildren: Jessica Schoon, Elizabeth Ehrenberg, Samantha Hill and Caitlin Ehrenberg, Dustin Ennen, Michael and Coleen Wagner, Joseph, Aimee, and Lewis Swanson, Kevin Ehrenberg, DuWayne Barron, and Stacie Barron; eleven great grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale on January 21, 2009, her parents Simon and Clarice, and a granddaughter Dayna. Blessed be her memory.
