Leola Mae Eliason

Leola Mae Eliason was born May 2, 1934 in Hartley, Iowa, the daughter of Walter Victor and Mable Therese Marie (Buchholz) Huck.  She was baptized July 22, 1934 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Melvin, Iowa.  In 1940 the Huck family moved to Minnesota, where they resided in Appleton, Holloway, and Barrett.  The family settled in Appleton where Leola was confirmed on May 15, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church, by Pastor E.A. Klemp.  Leola graduated from Appleton High School, Class of 1953.  On June 27, 1954 she was united in marriage to Floyd Marvin Eliason at Trinity Lutheran Church.  This union was blessed with over 64 years together and five children: Cheryl, Gary, Jon, Iann, and Kristen.

To say that Leola loved gardening was an understatement!  She truly enjoyed all aspects of her flower gardening.  Leola was an exceptional seamstress and was skilled at cross-stitch.  She was a long-time and active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church-Drywood and more recently a member at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton.  Above all, Leola was dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother…who loved her family and cherished her time with them.

Leola passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018 in St. Cloud Hospital.  She is survived by her husband, Floyd Eliason of rural Appleton, children: Cheryl Schuh of Bowdle, SD, Gary (Carolyn) Eliason of Appleton, Iann Eliason (Nick Nicholas) of Elgin, IL, Kristen (Bret) Turner of Sioux Falls, SD; 7 grandchildren: Melissa (Pat) Hanson, Jordan Schuh (Megan Blake), Tim Eliason, Jessica Eliason, Grant (Jessica) Schrepple, Alexis Schrepple, and Joshua Turner; 3 great-grandchildren: Hailey and Hannah Hanson and Claire Blake; 3 nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mable Huck; son, Jon Byron Eliason in 1962; sisters: Arlouine (Elmer) Gades and Phyllis (Bud) Chrisenson; son-in-law, Kenny Schuh.
