Sylvester Robert Muehlbauer

Sylvester Robert Muehlbauer, 96, Danvers, Minn., died Saturday, August 25, 2018, at home under Hospice care. Visitation will be from 5–7 p.m., with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Prayer Service at 7 p.m., Thursday, August 30, 2018, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson. Visitation will continue from 10–11 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Friday, August 31, 2018, at Church of the Visitation Catholic Church in Danvers. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Sylvester Robert Muehlbauer was born on December 31, 1921 at the family home in Tara Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the son of Robert and Marie Hildegard (Zormeier) Muehlbauer.  Sylvester was baptized at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Clontarf, Minnesota, and confirmed at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hegbert Township, Swift County, Minnesota.  He attended country school District 80th until eighth grade.  Sylvester entered the United States Army on September 19, 1942 and was honorably discharged on November 26, 1945.

Sylvester married his late wife Marie Teresa Peerboom on June 13, 1950 at the Church of the Visitation Catholic Church in Danvers, Minnesota, by Father Joseph Esser.  Over their 67 years of marriage they raised ten children on the family farm in Westbank Township in Swift County.

Sylvester worked at TCI in Benson as a welder for 27 years.  He enjoyed going on trips with his late wife Marie.  He also enjoyed farming, spending time with dogs and cats, making wooden lawn ornaments, playing cards, and fishing.  Above all, he loved spending time with his family.

Sylvester passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018, at his home under Hospice care. He attained the age of 96 years, 7 months, and 24 days. Sylvester is survived by his children: JoAnn (LeRoy) Dokken of Appleton, Thomas (Marcella) Muehlbauer of Loveland, Colorado, Raymond Muehlbauer of Danvers, Timothy (Mary) Muehlbauer of Clara City, Deann (Dave) Muehlbauer Bennett of Newfolden, Leo (Sandy) Muehlbauer of Danvers, David (Linda) Muehlbauer of Benson, Gloria (Kevin Hammond) Muehlbauer of Benson, and Kathryn Muehlbauer of Danvers; 26 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; great-great-granddaughters Maxine and Prudence; siblings: Delores Halverson of Lebanon, OR, Norbert Muehlbauer of St. Cloud, Marian Hasting of Coon Rapids, and Robert Muehlbauer Jr. of Fruita, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Muehlbauer; an infant son, Michael; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; his parents, Robert and Marie Muehlbauer; siblings: Joanne Muehlbauer, Francis Muehlbauer, Phyllis Gilbert, Rosella Beaver, Evelyn Banken, Harriet Paulson, Reuben Muehlbauer, and Margery Banken; and his mother and father-in-law, Henry and Margaret Peerboom.  Blessed be the memory of Sylvester Muehlbauer.
