Jane Ellen Dehne, was born on June 29, 1929, the daughter of Albert and Blondina Thielke Melchert. She was born in the family home in Tara Township, Swift County, Minnesota. She graduated from West Central School of Agriculture. On August 28, 1948, Jane was united in marriage to Norman Dehne in Seattle, Washington. In 1950 they returned to Holloway, where they farmed until Norman’s retirement in 1972. Jane was employed by the State Bank of Danvers for 17 years retiring in 1984. She was a regular volunteer at the Salvation Army in Morris from 2001 to 2008. In 2008 Jane moved to Ada Avenue in Benson where she lived until August 2017 when she moved to the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood.
Jane enjoyed working on the farm, traveling, and winters in Arizona with Norm. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson and part of The Trinity Quilters and a member of the Benson Marathon Card Club. She also enjoyed gardening and playing cards. Jane was a tough opponent at cards as all her card playing friends know. She took great pride in her knitting and hardanger. Jane was a great example for her family; she loved Norm, was a good Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma. Her sense of humor, toughness, and caring nature will greatly be missed.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Susan (Greg) Yeo, of Sunburg; three grandchildren, Katie (Chris) Kastan, Collin Yeo, and Rhett Yeo; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel Kaston and Lucia Kastan; a sister, Donna Coghlan of Prescott, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Ruby Stoll of Silverdale, Washington and Inez Dehne of Coon Rapids; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; and her son, Bruce. Blessed be her memory.
