Marlin Larry Ellingson

Marlin L. Ellingson, age 70, of Benson, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at his home under Hospice care. Visitation will be held 3-5 p.m., Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson. Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 11 a.m., Monday, July 16, 2018, at the church. Burial will be in the Benson City Cemetery.

Marlin Larry Ellingson was born April 27, 1948 in Barrett, Minnesota, the son of Burtland and Ella Amelia (Achterberg) Ellingson. He was confirmed at First Lutheran Church. Marlin grew up in Elbow Lake and attended Elbow Lake High School. In 1967 he was married to Arlene Winter and they had four children, Lisa, Theresa, Rick, and Chad. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He worked as a body man and painter for a variety of companies. He was creative and could find a purpose for everything. He would always come up with a fix to any problem. On April 7, 1979, Marlin was united in marriage to Judy Marie Erickson at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson. They had two children, Marie and Lance. Marlin and Judy lived in St. Louis Park until they both retired and moved back to Benson. Marlin was a man who loved to work with his hands. He enjoyed painting, woodworking, fixing cars and boats, and working on the house. When he wasn’t busy creating, he was with his kids and grandkids enjoying all the outdoors offered.

Marlin passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at his home under Hospice care. He attained the age of 70 years, 2 months and 14 days. He is survived by his wife, Judy; 5 children: Lisa (David) Hamann of Luverne, Theresa (Kraig) Kellner of Starbuck, Chad (Shelly) Ellingson of Brownton, Marie (Erik) Bedeaux of Minneapolis, and Lance (Sarah) Ellingson of Mound; 15 grandchildren: Erin (Tim), Andrew, Jordan, Justin, Karissa, Jenae, Kynzie, Tyler, Brett, Melanie (William), Emilee, Ella, Hannah, Allison, and Levi; and 3 great-grandchildren: Kendall, Kade, Jayse. In addition to brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; plus nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Burtland; mother, Ella; stepfather, Kenneth Vaa; 4 brothers: Kenneth, Edward, Bennett, and Gene; and son, Rick. Blessed be the memory of Marlin Ellingson.
