Elenore Lorraine Koosmann

Elenore Lorraine Koosmann was born April 17, 1925 in Montevideo, Minnesota, the daughter of Fred W. and Mina “Minnie” (Ostlie) Schroeder.  She was baptized May 17, 1925.  Elenore was confirmed March 17, 1940 by Rev. E.S. Belgum at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton.  She was raised in Appleton, where she graduated high school, Class of 1943.  On June 25, 1949 Elenore was united in marriage to Myron Koosmann by Rev. Gerald W. Garled at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton.  This union was blessed with over 67 years together and three children: Gene, Gary, and Janet.

She was organist at Zion Lutheran Church from 1946 to 1949 and at Faith Lutheran Church in Madison from 1983 to 1987.  Elenore was also the Sunday school pianist for a total of 28 years at Zion and Faith.  She was an active member of the Golden Rule Homemaker Club and Birthday Club in Madison for 26 years.  Elenore worked at Farmers & Merchants State Bank in Appleton for 7 years and was Deputy Auditor for Lac qui Parle County for 13 years.  She was a member of FLCW in Madison for many years, where she served on various committees.

Elenore and Myron spent the winter months in Mesa, Arizona for 5 years and they summered 8 years at Waskawood Resort in Glenwood.  They enjoyed fishing…catching, cleaning, and eating!  Elenore enjoyed having morning coffee with very special friends both in Madison and Appleton.  She also liked gardening, sewing, watching sports of all kinds, and playing the organ and piano.

Elenore passed away Monday, June 25, 2018 at home, in Apple Ridge Estates.  She attained 93 years, 2 months, and 8 days of age.  Elenore is survived by her children: Gene (Mary) Koosmann of Madison, Gary (Paulette Hanson) Koosmann of Marshall, and Janet Koosmann of Rochester Hills, MI; 7 grandchildren: Shanon (Alan) Hoffman, Jill (Chuck) Nelson, Jason (Tami) Koosmann, Allen (Tara) Koosmann, Brian (Michelle) Stien, Dennis (Samantha) Koosmann, and Bradley Koosmann; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Clarice Schroeder of Appleton, Wanda Schroeder of LA and Doris (Roger) Moen of Mesa, AZ; brother-in-law, Marvin (Kay) Koosman of Appleton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband Myron Koosmann in 2016; parents, Fred and Mina Schroeder; siblings: Verna (Cliff) Wilson, Dorothy (Robert) Appelholm, Wallace Schroeder, and Nordahl Schroeder; granddaughter-in-law, Noelle Koosmann.
