Ricky "Rick" Longnecker

Ricky “Rick” Lee Longnecker was born January 13, 1958 in Appleton, Minnesota, the son of Arnold and Marlys (Koosman) Longnecker.  He was baptized on February 16, 1958 at Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church, rural Louisburg, and was confirmed on April 29, 1973 at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton.  Rick was raised in the Holloway area and graduated from Appleton High School in 1976.  Over the years Rick worked various construction jobs.  He was a long-time employee of Appleton Area Health Services where he worked in the maintenance department.

Rick loved to hunt, fish, and to shoot trap.  He was a member of the Appleton Sportsman’s Club.  Rick enjoyed spending time with his family and friends…especially his children, Brennen and Breann.  He always had a smile on his face.  Rick was a friend to all and was loved by all those who called him friend.

Rick passed away June 5, 2018 in Hegbert Township, Swift County, Minnesota.  He is survived by his children: Brennen and Breann Longnecker of Appleton; siblings: Doug Longnecker (Jane Bratsch) of St. Cloud, Lin LaLond of Shakopee, Dean (Anita) Longnecker of Ortonville, and Deb (Dave) Henneberg of Appleton; aunts: Elenore Koosmann of Appleton and Doris (Roger) Moen of Appleton; uncle, Marv (Kay) Koosman of Appleton; Brennen and Breann’s Grandmother, Pat Holland of Alexandria; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by Brennen and Breann’s mother, Michelle Lewis; his parents, Arnie and Marlys Longnecker; Brennen and Breann’s Grandfather, John Holland;  uncles, Dennis Koosman and Myron Koosmann; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Longnecker.
