Lawrence Joseph O’Malley, age 79, was born in Benson, Minnesota on July 12, 1939, the son of Joseph and Delvina Matthews O’Malley. He grew up and attended school in Benson. Larry was a Vietnam War Veteran who served his country proudly and honorably in the United States Army. He achieved the rank of Sergeant. During the Vietnam War Larry was assigned to company-D, 169th, Engineer Battalion 20th Engineer Brigade, and was stationed near Long Binh Vietnam.
He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign War. Larry lived in St. Cloud, Minnesota for the past several years. He was a caring, and thoughtful, person who was close to and loved his family. He loved giving gifts and Christmas was his most precious time of year. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was very proud of his Irish heritage. He enjoyed his many travels to visit family members. He was called from this life on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the St. Cloud Veteran’s Medical Center.
He is survived by four sisters and one brother; Kathleen Koehne of Oklahoma City Oklahoma, Patrick E. O’ Malley of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Colleen Fatherree of Baton Rouge, Louisana, Patricia Weaver of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and Betty Ellis of Longmont, Colorado; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Delvina, a brother Michael O’ Malley, a sister Mary Margaret Evans, a sister-in-law, and five brother-in-laws. Blessed be his memory
