LaVonne Marie Landmark, 71, of Benson, Minn., died Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at Meadowlane Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Visitation will be from 12 – 1 p.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson. Interment will be in the Benson City Cemetery.
LaVonne Marie Landmark was born September 15, 1946 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Olaf P. and Magda Josephine Lind. She was baptized in October of 1946 in Glenwood and confirmed in October of 1961 at Kensington Covenant Church in Kensington, MN. LaVonne grew up in Hoffman and graduated from Hoffman High School. On March 21, 1969, Lavonne was united in marriage to Allen M. Landmark in Sisseton, South Dakota. This union was blessed with more than 49 years of marriage, five children, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
LaVonne was talented in many fields... dog grooming, graphic design, UPS, security, and cashiering. What she loved most was helping others all across the United States with Red Cross. She impacted thousands during hurricanes Katrina and Ike and from floods in South Dakota to fires in San Diego. She was an active member of the American Red Cross and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Among the many things LaVonne enjoyed were gardening, volunteering and helping others.
LaVonne passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Meadowlane Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She attained the age of 71 years, 7 months, and 23 days.
She is survived by her husband, Allen Landmark; children: Marie Chan of Aspen, CO, Michele Clinton of Park Rapids, Kristen (Doug Whipps) Landmark of Minneapolis, Corey Landmark of Winnfield, LA, and Melissa Landmark of Michigan City, IN; grandchildren: Cameron, Cady, Brandon, Shay, Kayla, Amanda, Casie, Zachery, and Ashley; and great-grandchildren: Kaiden, Kinley, Bentley, Clive, and Clancy.
LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents, Olaf and Magda Lind; mother and father-in-law, Milo and Doris Landmark and Marlow Rasmussen; brothers-in-law, George and Donald Landmark; all her aunts and uncles, and three cousins. Blessed be the memory of LaVonne Marie Landmark.
