Jeannine Grace Arnold

October 8, 1930 — May 8, 2018

Jeannine Grace Arnold was born October 8, 1930 in Fairfield Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the daughter of Herman and Selma (Mumm) Carstens.  She was baptized at home on October 19, 1930, by Pastor H.P. Jaus and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairfield Township, in 1944.  Jeannine attended elementary school at District #43 in Fairfield Township and graduated from Appleton High School, Class of 1948.   After high school, Jeannine worked at Northwestern State Bank, Reno Theater, and Kack Drug, all in Appleton.

On October 8, 1949 Jeannine was united in marriage to Victor “Vic” Arnold at Fairfield Lutheran Church.  This union was blessed with 68 years together and 3 children: Victoria, Randall, and Gregory.  Jeannine and Vic lived and farmed in Hegbert Township for 44 years before moving to Appleton in 1993.

Jeannine was a member of Zion Lutheran Church since 1949 where she was active in all Ladies organizations, was a choir member, taught Sunday school for 18 years, belonged to Altar Guild, was a member of the Zion Quilters and Prayer Shawl Ministry, was part of the Be-Frienders group, and volunteered with the Prison Ministry at Prairie Correctional Facility.  She was also a member and officer of many organizations, including: Searchlight Club, School Board District #2202, Swift County Nursing Board, Appleton Music Club, Minnesota Grain Elevators Association Ladies Group, Swift County Homemakers Club, Appleton Ladies Bowling and Golfing Leagues, and Appleton Hospital and Nursing Home Auxiliaries.  Jeannine enjoyed gardening, handwork, golfing, bowling, bird watching and feeding, reading, walking for exercise, and fishing with Vic.

Jeannine passed away Tuesday, May 8th, in Appleton Area Health Services –Care Center.  She attained 87 years and 7 months of age.  She is survived by her husband, Victor Arnold of Appleton; sons: Randall (Pati) Arnold and Gregory (Ellen) Arnold, both of Appleton; 4 grandchildren: Jesse (Susanne) Arnold, Joshua (Jill) Arnold, Lee Arnold, and Shelby Arnold; 2 great-grandchildren: Shaye Arnold and Isaiah Arnold; sister-in-law, Linda Carstens of Benson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Selma Carstens; daughter, Victoria (Calvin) Byre; great-granddaughter, Brynn Arnold; parents-in-law, Henry and Luella Arnold; siblings: Ruby (Harvey) Thielke, Inez (Walter) Beyer, and Kenneth Carstens; and brother-in-law, Meredith (Phyllis) Ulstad.  Blessed be the memory of Jeannine Grace Arnold.
