Virgil France Hendrickson was born to parents Oscar and Alice (Swedberg) Hendrickson on January 23, 1921 in Appleton, Minnesota. He served as an Army Sergeant in Company M, 135th Regiment, Red Bull 34th Infantry Division during WWII. His foreign service lasted 2 years 10 months and 20 days, without furlough. Virgil loved his family, his farm, his town of Appleton and his country. He was united in marriage on September 30, 1950 to Gladys Olson. They were blessed with 67 years together and three children: Cheryl, Karin, and Mark. Virgil sold many products including Electrolux vacuum cleaners for over 50 years.
Virgil went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 16, 2018 in the Minneapolis VA Hospital at the age of 97. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gladys; children Cheryl (Greg) Rutt of White Bear Lake, Karin Christy of Sun City, TX, and Mark (Maia) Hendrickson of White Bear Lake; granddaughter, Jennifer (Drew) Hammond; 2 great-grandchildren, Hadley and Harper; sister, Goldie Schneider; and 4 nephews.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Alice Hendrickson; son-in-law, James Christy; brother, Udell Hendrickson; and sister, Worthy Schultz.
Blessed be the memory of Virgil Hendrickson. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family.
