Richard Lee Donnelly was born October 17, 1945 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Clayton and Anastasia (Hosna) Donnelly. He attended school in Robbinsdale, Minnesota and graduated in 1963. Dick had a successful career in the field of precision metal stamping. He retired in 2009, to their home on Camp Lake north of Benson, MN.
Dick was a past president of the Camp Lake Association, and volunteered as “Lake Level Monitor” for the Minnesota DNR for Camp Lake. Dick was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing in both summer and winter, also riding his ATV accompanied by his faithful canine companion Annie. He was an incredible gardener, producing a bountiful harvest every year. He had many friends and a huge heart and was well known for his willingness and ability to help anyone with anything whenever called upon. He lived by the “golden rule – Do unto others as you would have others do unto you”.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and especially enjoyed playing cribbage with visitors. He kept an eye on his favorite television shows while he worked on projects out in his garage; he always kept the fire stoked in his wood burner on the off chance someone would stop by.
Dick will be deeply missed by the love of his life, his wife of 53 years, Diane (Soderstrom) Donnelly; his sister, Suzanne (Richard) Stommes; his brother, Michael Donnelly; his sons, Brian (Golda) Donnelly and Bradley Donnelly; grandchildren, Michael Donnelly, Andy Donnelly, Travis (Jana) Donnelly, Joshua (Melissa) Donnelly and Kimberly Donnelly; great-grandchildren, Carter, Brighton, Emery, Teegan and Paris; sister-in-law, Roxy Lewis; special friend and neighbor Lance Kolstad; many cousins, friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Anastasia Donnelly.
