Mary Anne Lindahl

August 11, 1930 — March 29, 2018

Lindahl, Mary Anne age 87, passed away peacefully after a short illness surrounded by family March 29, 2018. She was an overall amazing person who made friends easily and was an outstanding mother, grandmother, great-grand mother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed for her joyful, patient, kind and loving spirit.

Mary Anne was born Aug. 11, 1930 in Minneapolis to Selmar (Sandy) and Mary Rose Hanson. She lived in Benson MN but at age 11 moved to Oakland, CA. where she and brother DuWayne attended school at St. Francis de Sales and Holy Names Central Catholic High. In 1946, the family moved back to Benson where she graduated from Benson High School. On Sept. 2nd, 1949, Mary Anne was united in marriage to Bob Lindahl, also from Benson. They shared 56 years of marriage and had six sons: Steve, Jeff, David, Greg, Bob Jr. and Jim.

The family moved to Minneapolis in 1951, then Bloomington, and to Eden Prairie in 1962 where they raised their sons and spent many wonderful years until 1976 when they moved back to Benson and bought the family business - Sandy’s Café - which they operated successfully until 1993. They spent winters in Arizona after retirement and travelled and socialized often with many great friends. In 2014, Mary Anne moved to Summit Place in Eden Prairie where she made many friends, enjoyed bridge, hand and foot, and attended many day trips and social gatherings.

Mary Anne had strong but understated faith in God and dedication to the Catholic Church. She had a life-long love of family, music (especially when sons and grandchildren were involved), golf, reading, cards, church, friends, and watching sports. She played golf well into her early ‘80’s. She was a very active volunteer - especially at St Francis Catholic Church in Benson - where she served on countless committees. She also delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.

Mary Anne is survived by her 6 sons, 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Steve (Lori) of Eden Prairie and children Anne, Michael and Jessica; Jeff of Hudson WI and children Daren (grandchildren Sophia and Harrison), Gavin and Anna; David (Leann) of Eden Prairie and children Hannah, Hayley and Sam; Greg of Crystal MN and children Kate (grandchildren Adam and Alex) and Nathan; Bob Jr. (Michelle) of Wayzata and children Margaret and Mallory; Jim (Heidi) of Eden Prairie and children Lauren and Emma. She is also survived by her brother Jim (Jan) Hanson of Hastings MN.

Mary Anne is preceded in death by her husband Bob; brother DuWayne and parents Sandy and Mary Hanson.
