Herbert Simonson Lee

Herbert Simonson Lee was born October 12, 1943, in Torning Township, the son of Irving Herbert and Alma Sophia (Simonson) Lee. He was baptized November 14, 1943, by Rev. M.G. Berg at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Benson. He was confirmed at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church. Herb grew up in rural Benson. He attended Country School through 8th grade and graduated from Benson High School in 1961. On May 8, 1965, Herb was united in marriage to Beverly Jane Peterson by Rev. R.K. Livdahl at Kvitseid Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with more than 52 years of marriage, 3 daughters, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Herb lived his entire life in Benson and worked at Dokken Machine, Lor*AL Manufacturing, and Lorenz Manufacturing until retirement in 2009. He was a board member of the Benson Golf Club and a member of the Tractor Club in his early years. He was a member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed helping by videotaping the church services. Herb loved spending time with his family, attending grandchildren events, and hanging out in his garage. A big love was gardening and sharing his produce with friends and family.
Herb passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Swift County Benson Health Services. He attained the age of 74 years, 5 months and 16 days. He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Lee of Benson; daughters: Michelle (Richard) Schnitzler of Dassel, Brenda (Tom) Booth of Benson, and Jennifer Wersinger (Todd Commerford) of Danvers; grandchildren: Brady Wersinger (fiancée Bailey Carlson), Cole Schnitzler, Evan Schnitzler, Kyle Wrobleski, Jarid Wersinger, Austin Schnitzler, and Alex Wrobleski; great-grandchildren: Weston Wersinger and Emmett Wersinger; siblings: Carol Holmgren of Benson, Alonah (Donn) Lorenz of Benson, and Barbara (Dave) Odden of Starbuck; and sister-in-law, Shirley Lee of Benson.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Alma Lee; brothers: DuWayne Lee, Roger (Jane) Lee, and Robert Lee; brother-in-law, Loren Holmgren; and grandchildren, Adam Wrobleski and Megan Wrobleski. Blessed be his memory.
