Walter Barth

Walter Barth, age 81, of Appleton, died Wednesday in the St. Cloud Hospital.  The Barth’s will greet family and friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., on Monday, March 26th at the Zniewski Funeral Home -Vaala Chapel in Appleton.

Walter Arthur Barth was born April 11, 1936, in Appleton, Minnesota, the son of Charles and Annie (Behrens) Barth.  He grew up in the Holloway area and graduated from Holloway High School.  On September 28, 1956, Walter was united in marriage to Olive Bernice Lehne.  This union was blessed with more than 61 years of marriage, 4 children and 7 grandchildren.

Walter farmed all of his life in the Appleton area.  He was a member of the Chokio Sportsman’s Club and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Chokio.  He was an avid hunter and trapper.  He was very proud of the things made from the furs he trapped.  He was also an antique collector, race car fan, and lutefisk connoisseur.  He enjoyed all family time together.  He was very proud of 45 years of sobriety.

He passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at St. Cloud Hospital.  Walter attained the age of 81 years, 11 months and 10 days.  Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Olive Barth of Appleton; 4 daughters: Connie (Paul Tostenson) Barth of Appleton, Renae Barth of Largo, FL, Shelley Beyer of Morris, and Vickie (Darrell) Bartz of Ashby; 7 grandchildren: Nicholas Barth, Travis Beyer, Cody Beyer, Vanessa Bartz, Whitney Bartz, Olivia Bartz and Derrek Bartz; sisters-in-law: Rosemary Barth of Danvers and Barbara Barth of Minneapolis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Annie Barth; parents-in-law, Alfred and Thea Lehne; brothers: Paul, Albert, Robert, Fred, and Willie (Ardis) Barth; sisters: Ruth Ann Barth, Mary (Robert) Lowry, Leona (Gerald) Winkelman, and Viola (Elwin) Bahl; niece, Debbie Bahl; nephew, Lonnie Barth; and sister-in-law, Dorothy (Allen) Hanson.  Blessed be the memory of Walter Barth.
