Arlene Mavis Rolfsmeier
March 12, 1935 — February 14, 2018
Arlene Mavis Rolfsmeier was born March 12, 1935 in Devils Lake, North Dakota, the daughter of Earl and Geraldine (Durheim) Cartwright. Her family moved to Minnesota when Arlene was five years old. She was baptized at EUB Church in Odessa and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton. Arlene graduated from Ortonville High School.
On March 13, 1954, Arlene was united in marriage to Derald (Fritz) Rolfsmeier at the Methodist Church in Ortonville. This union was blessed with 63 years of marriage, 3 children, 9 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. They moved to a farm near Correll where Derald and Arlene farmed. On the farm they raised their three children, Randy, Steve, and Vicki. While Derald farmed, Arlene spent her days cooking and baking for her family. She loved time with her grandchildren and she enjoyed teaching her granddaughters to sew for 4-H and baking wedding and birthday cakes for all her grandchildren. As her grandchildren grew up, she was blessed with 16 great-grandchildren who never ceased to bring a smile to her face.
Through the years, Arlene was involved in Ladies Aid, LWML, Altar Committee, Bible Study, Homemakers, Sewing Club, Church Quilting, volunteer for Pioneer TV, and taught release time classes at Church. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting, embroidering dishtowels for family, cake decorating, and traveling. Arlene & Derald retired to Appleton in 2012.
Arlene was called from this life on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the Appleton Area Care Center. She attained 82 years, 11 months, and 2 days of age.
She is survived by her children: Randy (Sue) Rolfsmeier, Steve (Lori) Rolfsmeier, and Vicki (Jeff) Schmiesing; grandchildren: Celena Thorpe, Jessica Mattocks, Trisha Lehne, Mark Schmiesing, Tori Rolfsmeier, Travis Rolfsmeier, Dominic Rolfsmeier, Derek Rolfsmeier, and Amanda Redepenning; great-grandchildren: Beckett, Charles, Tyler, Ingrid, Trinity, Kennedy, Kollyns, Kazney, Hailey, Katelyn, Austin, Ben, Kailee, Blake, Aubrey, and Cylus; siblings: Larry (Elaine) Cartwright and Patsy (Don) Fitzner; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a sister Beverly Cartwright.
