Betty J. Meier, 71, of Murdock, died Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, December 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock. Visitation will continue from 9:30–10:30 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 20, at the church. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery.
Betty Jean Meier was born July 11, 1946, in Dickenson, North Dakota, to Eugene and Lucille (Carpenter) Riedlinger. She was raised in Scranton and confirmed June 23, 1957, by Fr. Valerian Sabutus at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Betty graduated from Scranton High School in 1964 and worked at the grain elevator. On November 19, 1966, she married James Meier and they moved to Murdock, Minnesota. Betty worked at the Murdock Banking Agency and at Jim’s Place where she met many people and touched many hearts. She was a member of CCW, Council of Catholic Women, and served on the Sacred Heart Board of Trustees. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her granddaughters were her pride and joy. Betty enjoyed quilting, painting, and sewing; but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Betty passed away unexpectedly on December 13, 2017, at the North Memorial Medical Center in Minneapolis. She is survived by her husband Jim Meier of Murdock; her children: Daren (Lisa) Meier of Faribault, Todd (Brenda) Meier of Ham Lake, and Kevin (Veronica) Meier of Auburn, Nebraska; her granddaughters: Kelsey, Allison, Jaclyn, and Lauren; and her siblings: Sherman (Connie) Riedlinger of Williston, North Dakota, and Allan (Crystal) Riedlinger of Scottsdale, Arizona.
