Cecilia Margaret Kent
April 14, 1919 — November 12, 2017
Cecilia “Cele” Kent was born on April 14, 1919, in Wilmont, MN, the daughter of John and Susie (Schwartz) Becker. She was baptized at Our Lady of Good Council Church in Wilmont MN by Father Steger and confirmed in 1930 at the same church.
Cele grew up in the Wilmont area where she attended Our Lady of Good Counsel School in Wilmont MN through 8th grade. Her family moved to Clontarf in March 1939.
She was united in marriage to David Victor Kent on January 23, 1940 at St. Malachy Catholic Church by Father King. This union was blessed with 35 years of marriage, 3 children and 4 grandchildren.
Cele enjoyed being a farm wife, raising 3 loving children with Dave. Among the many things she enjoyed were cooking, gardening, playing cards, quilting and especially fishing and coffee uptown with the ladies. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and all of her family and friends. She was a member of the St. Malachy Altar and Rosary Society.
She was called from this life on Sunday, November 12, 2017, at Homestead South in Benson. She attained 98 years and 7 months of age.
Cele is survived by her children: Ronald (Laurie) Kent of Clontarf, Marie (Patrick) Hagerty of Oakdale, daughter-in-law Jodie Thielke Kent Heuring of Benson, grandchildren, Alyssa Kent of Benson, Kristina Kent of Morris, Kate (Bryan) Laufenberg of St. Paul and Connor Hagerty of Oakdale. Brother, Arnold Becker of Mankato, Sister, Rosemary Chamberlain of Benson, sisters-in-law Loretta Becker and Jo Becker of Mankato
She was preceded in death by her husband, David V. Kent on October 31, 1975, son Arnold on October 6, 2000, parents, John and Susie Becker and siblings, Raymond Becker, Regina Becker Schettler, Clarence Becker, sister-in-law, Jo Becker and brothers-in-law, Vincent Chamberlain and August Schettler.
