Lila Violet Johnson, 86, died Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., followed by the funeral at 2 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson. Interment will be in Benson City Cemetery.
Lila Violet Johnson was born November 7, 1930, in Granite Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Tony P. and Emma (Olsen) Nelson. She was baptized on May 3, 1931, in Milroy, MN. Lila grew up in the Granite Falls area and attended country school through the eighth grade. On October 18, 1951, Lila was united in marriage to Lawrence Nelson Johnson, Jr. This union was blessed with more than 65 years of marriage, four children and two grandchildren. Lila was a wonderful homemaker. She also worked at the Benson Hospital as a cook and later at Finger Hut and then Jennie-O. She enjoyed baking, gardening, flowers and plants. Lila loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was called from this life on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center. She attained 86 years, 10 months and 13 days of age.
Lila is survived by her children: Steven Johnson of Benson, Marsha (David) Schouveller of St. Paul, Bruce (Betty) Johnson of Hector, and Lori (Dale) Theel of Benson; grandchildren, Michael Theel and Amanda Theel; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior on February 21, 2017; her parents, Tony and Emma Nelson; brothers, Donald and Robert; and sister, Eileen Buttke. Blessed be the memory of Lila Johnson.
