Jeanne Frances Kennedy, 95, of Willmar, formerly of Murdock, died Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Rice Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 11 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery.
Jeanne Frances Kennedy was born August 26, 1922 in Murdock, Minnesota, the daughter of Leonard H. and Margaret Ann (McGovern) Young. She was baptized on September 6, 1922 by Father Walsh and confirmed July 9, 1933 by Arch Bishop Gregory Murry at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Jeanne grew up in the Murdock area and graduated from Murdock High School and the Mankato Commercial College. Following college, she worked at Josten’s Manufacturing in Owatonna and then at Novak Jewelry in Minneapolis. On June 1, 1946, Jeanne was united in marriage to LeRoy Edward Kennedy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Father Walsh. This union was blessed with more than 37 years of marriage, 6 children, 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Jeanne was a wonderful homemaker on their family farm. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Council of Catholic Women, Mission Group, and was awarded the Bishop’s medal for her commitment and service as a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Among the many things she enjoyed were reading, sewing, playing cards, and she loved spending time with family and friends.
Jeanne passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Rice Memorial Hospital. She attained the age of 95 years and 6 days of age. She is survived by her children: Margaret (Kenny) Laughlin of Murdock, Colleen Krattenmaker of Anoka, Lois (Don) Kinghorn of Anoka, Terry Kennedy of Moorhead, Mary (Kenny) Moline of Andover, and Kim (Larry) Hoover of Willmar; grandchildren: Jackie Weiss, Michelle Stallings, Tom McGinty, Annette Krattenmaker, Andrew Krattenmaker, Angela Tjosaas, Jesse Kennedy, Stephen Kinghorn, Michael Kinghorn, Jon Hoover, Matt Hoover, Amy Duscher, and Aaron Handorff; great-grandchildren: Hunter Weiss, Madeline Stallings, Jacob Stallings, Ella McGinty, Emily McGinty, Allyson Krattenmaker, Emma Tjosaas, Ben Tjosaas, Olivia Tjosaas, Duke Hoover, Lucas Kinghorn, Norah Kinghorn, Piper Hoover, and Sullivan Hoover.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Kennedy on February 13, 1984; her parents Leonard and Margaret Young; sisters: Hedwig Brown, Margaret Fogg, Gertrude Keeley, Blanche Pothen, Lois Hafdahl; and brother, James Leonard Young. Blessed be the memory of Jeanne Frances Kennedy.
