Mildred “Millie” Hagerud was born July 18, 1942 in Appleton, Minnesota, the daughter of Morris and Edna (Johnson) Hagerud. Millie was raised in the Danvers and Clontarf areas. She attended school at District 20 through the Seventh Grade and then attended Hancock High School, where she graduated in 1960. After graduation, Millie attended cosmetology school in Willmar, graduating in 1962. Millie worked as a cosmetologist, out of her home, for several years. In 1995, Millie moved from her home farm to Benson. She worked for a time as a hostess at a local restaurant, which she really enjoyed. Millie loved to go to garage sales, baking, visiting, reading, growing flowers (especially roses), and helping special friends.
Millie passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017 in Benson, Minnesota. She attained 75 years and 25 days of age. Millie is survived by nieces: Kay (John) Seliga of Cottage Grove, Kris (Steve) Hallis of Afton, Clair Gades of St. Paul, and Karen Gades of Rochester; great-nephew, Jason Goulet; great-nieces: Kara Goulet and Erin Hallis; great-great-nieces: Myah and McKinley Goulet; brother-in-law, Arlie (Mae) Gades of Benson; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Edna Hagerud; brothers: Edward and Donald Hagerud; sister, Evelyn Gades; great-nephews: Jed Goulet and Tim Seliga.
