David Clarence Schuerman was born October 11, 1942 in Benson MN to Julius and Hazel (DeGroy) Schuerman the youngest of 6 siblings. He passed away unexpectedly at St. Cloud Hospital on Saturday evening August 5, 2017. He attended elementary school in Danvers and high school in Benson. He grew up on the family farm just outside of Danvers.

David was baptized and confirmed at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Danvers. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson. He was an active member through the years and had served on the council and as congregational president of each church.

David was united in marriage to Diane (Munsterman) on August 11, 1962 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holloway MN. He was a proud father of their three children: Daren, Donita and J.D.. They lived on the Schuerman family farm and David was a lifelong farmer. He loved farming the land, the spring planting, the growing season and the harvest. In 2000 David and Diane retired and moved to Benson though David continued to assist in the farming activities with his son. He drove the Benson City Bus for several years, which was a fun job for him and a great venue for his sense of humor.

David’s activities were many. He played league softball with Danvers area friends and also coached the Danvers Little League team when his sons were active players. David played guitar and sang for his kids and later his grandkids as often as he could convince them to sit and listen. David was a painter, mostly for his own enjoyment, though the kids and grandkids proudly display paintings he has done. He was also active in area community theatre, performing in many productions where he met and became lifelong friends with his fellow cast members. And of course GOLF! He golfed with the same passion, joy and humor he showed in all the varied loves of his life.

For the past six years, David and Diane have spent the winter months at their home in San Tan Valley, AZ where they have many wonderful new friends and greatly enjoyed visits from family and friends.

David is survived by his wife Diane, son Daren (Kim) of Danvers, daughter Donita (Patrick) Ascheman of Holloway and son J.D. (Katy) of Northfield. Ten beloved grandchildren: Josh Schuerman, Brianna Schuerman, Sara Schuerman, Jordan Schuerman, Jackson Schuerman, Grant Ascheman, Betsy Schuerman, Sophie Ascheman, Will Schuerman and Karly Ascheman. Sisters, Lois (Robert) Ward and Janice Chevalier. Aunt Viola Schuerman, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents, sister Verona (Ewald) Grothe, brothers Sidney (Donna) Schuerman and Dennis Schuerman and brother-in-law Gary Chevalier.
