April 17, 1949 — July 8, 2017

Steven Michael Naig, age 68, of Murdock, died Saturday, July 8, at home. Visitation will be from 1 – 2 p.m., followed by the funeral at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 12, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in rural Murdock. Interment will be in Calvary Lutheran Cemetery.

Steve was born April 17, 1949, in Benson to Burdette and Alice Naig. He grew up in Benson, attending rural country school for grade school. He graduated from Benson High School in 1969. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1969 stationed two years in Korea where he served in the engineering unit.

In 1985 Steve married Cindy Trocke. They had three children. Steve worked for various construction firms in the Swift County area as a construction worker. He was especially noted for his skills operating heavy equipment. He was also known as a trusted and reliable employee.

Steve enjoyed being a member of the Murdock community & spending time with his many friends. If you needed a smile, Steve had one! Steve’s greatest joy came from spending time with his children & grandchildren. In the spring of 2016 his children took him on a ten day long, 5400 mile road trip. They visited destinations on Steve’s ‘bucket list’----The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas and San Diego. A trip of a lifetime that Steve talked about almost daily.

Steve is survived by his children Amber (& Adam) Simmonds, Matt Naig & special friend Breonna and Liz Naig all of Murdock. He is also survived by grandchildren Austin, Wyatt, Tatum, Savannah, Paige & Cameron.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Burdette & Alice; brothers Richard & Jerome Naig, an infant sister and nephew Barry Naig.
