Charlotte Adella McChesney was granted her angel wings on June 22, 2017, following a lifelong battle waiting for a heart that did not come.
Her final days were spent surrounded by family that Charlotte had touched in some small way throughout her short, yet very memorable life.
Charlotte's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around her and though she never spoke a word, her voice and thoughts could always be heard.
Charlotte possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With her courage she led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. She loved to be rocked and cuddling close to her parents.
She loved the book, Giraffes can't dance.
Charlotte loved being disconnected from all her cords and taking her bath every night.
She loved holding her sock monkey and ducky and watching her mobile contently.
With Charlotte's passing we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss her everyday, especially her winning smile and beautiful eyes.
She will forever remain in our hearts. Through her she taught us so much about life. We were able to create wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to be her parents. We are so thankful Charlotte's brother and sister walked fearlessly through this journey with her so they can hold dear the memory of Charlotte's gentle spirit.
Charlotte leaves behind many wonderful caregivers that provided love and support that enhanced her quality of life. Charlotte's love extends to her wonderful nurses and doctors.
There is a special place in our hearts for all of them, because of their continual dedication, love and support, Charlotte was able to survive some of her toughest medical challenges. She will be dearly missed by all her special caregivers at the Children's hospital and the Mayo hospital.
All of these special people, too numerous to mention, provided Charlotte with love and dignity in her life and also in her death.
Charlotte is survived by her
loving parents, David and Nichole McChesney of Benson Minnesota, her sister Grace and brother Alex.
Grandparents, Steve and Bobbie McChesney, Chad Olson, MaryAnn Enger, Kevin and Julie Moe.
Great grandmother, Verdella Wright.
