Louise J. Schlueter

January 26, 1920 — June 17, 2017

Louise Schlueter was born to parents Ignatius (Joe) and Edna (Konieczny) Bonk on January 26, 1920 in Silver Creek, Nebraska.  At an early age, the family moved back to Edison Township, Swift County, Minnesota. Louise attended country school until the Eighth Grade and finished high school, graduating from Appleton High School in 1938.  After graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper and secretary at the Appleton Creamery, Appleton Furniture Store, Holloway Market Company, and West-Con.  On May 18, 1946, she was united in marriage to Harvey Schlueter at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Holloway.  They were blessed with 63 years of marriage and three boys and three girls.  The couple lived in the Appleton – Holloway area all of their lives, where they farmed.

Her greatest joy was her family….supporting and helping them any way that she could.  Louise loved the outdoors and was an excellent gardener and a master at canning all the wonderful produce that she grew.  Louise and Harvey were terrific dancers and loved to go out and dance on the weekends.  Louise was an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Appleton, serving as secretary, treasurer, and president.  She was also the 5th District President in 1998-1990.  She also belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Holloway for many years.
