Stacy Marie Hammerschmidt, age 32, of Benson, Minn., died Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Swift County Benson Health Services. Visitation will be from 5–7 p.m., Sunday, June 4, 2017, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Benson. Visitation will continue from 10–11 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11 a.m., Monday, June 5, 2017, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Benson City Cemetery. Arrangements are with Zniewski Funeral Home.
Stacy Marie Hammerschmidt was born April 29, 1985, at the Montevideo Hospital, the daughter of Jacqueline Marie (Willander) and Robert Jay Hammerschmidt. She was baptized May 12, 1985 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo and confirmed October 29, 2000, by Rev. McManus at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Benson. She grew up in Montevideo through age 10 and then moved with her family to Benson. Stacy graduated from Benson High School in 2004 and worked at multiple jobs around the Benson area and most recently for West Central Tribune. Stacy loved taking care of her two girls and spending time with her family and friends.
Stacy was called from this life on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Swift County Benson Health Services. She attained 32 years, 1 month, and 2 days of age. She is survived by her loving children, Kaylee and Alexis; parents, Robert and Jennifer Hammerschmidt, brother, Tony (Tanya) Wilking and their children Hailey, Samantha and Jack; sister, Nichole Staton; sister, Natasha Staton (Kyle) and their children Christopher and Tatum; sister, Kelsey Hammerschmidt (Nathan); and brother, Cody Hammerschmidt (Ellie); grandmother, Sharon Salfer; grandparents, Ron and Cindy Giese; grandfather Virgil (Tammi) Hammerschmidt; great grandparents Arlie and Mae Gades; aunts and uncles and their families: Jackie (Scott) Barrett and their children Jordan and Danielle, and Brandon (Lexi) Ramsey; Liz (Mike) Broich and their children Stacy, Cathi, Zack, Danielle, and Xavery; Becky (Mike) Burns and their children Courtney and Jase; Kim (Paul) Baker, Ashley (Nirpaul) Kang, Adam (Jess) Baker, and Alix Baker (Chris); Daryl (Heather) Aspen-Hammerschmidt; Dawn (Jason) Lee and their children Raegan and Kendall; Dave (Lilia) Marcus Salfer; Wendy (Mike) Skorczewski and their son Joshua; Angie Willander; Aaron and Michelle Willander and their children Katy and Maddy.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jackie Fossell; grandparents, Wendall and June Willander; cousin, Natasha Skorczewski; great-grandparents, Bert and Alaire Trelstad and Kenneth and Eunice Giese; great-grandfather Charles Jobgen; and great-uncle, Kevin Giese.
