Dustin J. Roder

Dustin James Roder was born on November 20, 1992, in Mitchell, South Dakota, the son of Deon and Debra (Shimp) Roder. In 1995 he moved with his family to Hutchinson, Minnesota. He was baptized on August 8, 1999 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hutchinson and confirmed there on May 6, 2007. He graduated from Hutchinson Senior High School in 2011 and then attended the Transition Assistance Program (TAP).

Dustin volunteered for calling BINGO and then at the Hutchinson Evangelical Free Church where he made the church directories. He enjoyed working with and being on his computer and playing games on his Playstation. He loved to go on walks and explore the town. He enjoyed his trips to the casino. Dustin looked forward to his birthday parties and other family events where he could be surrounded by his family and friends. He loved hanging out with his godson Gannon. He was called from this life on Friday afternoon, May 12, 2017 at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  He attained the age of 24 years, 5 months and 8 days.

Dustin is survived by his parents Deon and Debbie Roder of Hutchinson; a sister Ashley and her husband Brandon Fiecke of Dassel; his nephew Gannon Fiecke; his grandmothers Dianne Shimp of Montevideo and Linda (Rod Greseth) Roder of Montevideo; special friend Jen Smith of Hutchinson, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers Gene Shimp and Leon Roder, his great grandparents Raymond and Helen Bartels, Sherman and Ada Shimp, Milford and Gert Olson, and Leonard and Alice Roder, and other family members.
