Frances Esther Bahl

Frances Esther (Suckow) Bahl was born May 9, 1919 in Moyer Township, Swift County, Minnesota to parents Frank and Anna (Behl) Suckow.  She was baptized May 29, 1919 by Rev. Hans Appel and was confirmed April 9, 1933 by Rev. C.N. Anderson, both at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Moyer Township.  At the age of 10 months she and her family moved, by train, from Holloway, Minnesota to Emerald, Wisconsin.  After six years the Suckow family moved back, by train, to Holloway.  Frances attended rural school District 90 for one year in Forest, Wisconsin and continued her education upon her return to Minnesota in country school, Moyer Township.

On June 11, 1940 she was united in marriage to Leslie Harry Bahl at St. John’s Lutheran Church by Rev. A.R. Wachholz.  Prior to her marriage she did housework in many homes in the Holloway, Danvers, and Springfield area.  Frances and Leslie lived in Holloway where they operated a produce from 1940 to 1945.  They lived on a farm north of Holloway from 1945 – 1956, then purchased a farm near Odessa where they lived for 23 years.  In February, 1980 they retired and moved to Appleton.

Frances passed away May 11, 2017 in Appleton Area Health Services –Care Center.  She attained 98 years and two days of age.  She is survived by her daughters: Gail (Arlyn) Schellberg of Madison and Gladys (David) Beyer of Morris; 8 grandchildren: Craig (Lori) Schellberg, Dallas (Becky) Schellberg, Douglas (fiancé, Amy) Schellberg, Shawn (Jill) Swenson, Sherry (Jesse) Helleksen, Brad (Patti) Swenson, Monica Baron, Randy (Elizabeth) Beyer; 12 great-grandchildren: Quinn and Courtney Swenson, Adrianne (Alex) Aeikens, Shelby Beyer, Grant, Levi, Kyle, and Casey Schellberg, Montana and Cole Swenson, Mason and Jerod Baron; 2 step-great-grandchildren: Christian and Juliana Dodds; 1 great-great-grandchild, Aiden Weber; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Anna Suckow; her husband, Leslie in 1990; a granddaughter, baby girl Schellberg in 1966; brother, Palmer (Laverna) Suckow; sisters: Olga (Harry) Arnold, Gertrude (Bill) Linde, Martha (Arnold) Graese, Hilda (Alvin) Brandt, Laura (Carl) Gades, Irene (Irvin) Breum, Margaret (Ambrose) Erdman, Ida (Emil) Frick, Harriet (Wilbur) Frank, Ruth (Charles) Dahle, Lucille Yanisch, and Edna Suckow.
