Clara Wiebold

Clara Freida Wiebold was born on March 28, 1936, in Glen Flora, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ernest and Anna (Metzing) Schwendemann. The family moved to Starbuck, Minnesota where she attended grade school and then to Benson, Minnesota where she graduated from Benson Senior High School. On January 16, 1955, Clara was united in marriage to Richard Leroy Wiebold at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Benson by Rev. Wians.  To this union, three children were born.  Together, Clara and Richard were able to share in almost fifty years of marriage.

After their marriage, Clara and Richard moved to Montana for five years and then returned to Minnesota.  Clara worked at Fingerhut, helped Dick at Mitteness Turkey Farms, worked at Golden Plump, and for Future Products.  She was a member of the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Benson where she was active in the Ladies’ Guild. She enjoyed baking, sewing, playing cards, fishing, gardening, and spending time with her family. She was called from this life on Tuesday evening, May 9, 2017, at the Gabriel House in Murdock, Minnesota. She attained the age of 81 years, 1 month, and 11 days.

Clara is survived by her children: Rhonda (Dick Boone) of Spokane, Washington, Rose (Kevin) Wilts of Benson, and Ronald (Shelly) Wiebold of Renville; grandchildren: Jessica (Josh) Minchow and their children, Patrick, Isaac and Thea; Tifani (Eric) Flieth and their daughter, Emma; Michael Wiebold; Meagan (Elisha) Odegaard and their children, Kiley and Charlie Bemis; Hillary Wilts; and Savanna Wiebold; her sisters-in-laws: Wanda Schwendemann, Doris Wiebold, and Alvina (Arnie) Maus; a brother-in-law, Chuck Hector; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 2004; her parents, Ernest and Anna Schwendemann; 6 siblings; and 13 in-laws. Blessed be her memory.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017, at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Benson. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday, May 12, at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Interment will follow the service at the Benson City Cemetery.
