Donna Marie (Uhr) Chevalier was born April 26, 1930 in Hancock, Minnesota, the daughter of Clarence R. and Esther M. (Christenson) Uhr. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Clontarf. She attended country school District 55 and Hancock High School. On June 10, 1947, Donna was united in marriage to Donald E. Chevalier at St. Malachy Catholic Church. This union was blessed with more than 35 years of marriage, 6 children, 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Donna was a stay at home mom until 1965 when she went to work at Fingerhut in Benson for 12 years. She then worked as a nurse’s aide at the Appleton Nursing Home for 17 years. She retired and became a Foster Grandparent at Appleton Elementary for many years. Donna then moved to Paynesville and later to Assumption Home in Cold Spring. Among the many things she enjoyed were reading, traveling, and spending time with her beloved children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Donna was called from this life on Monday, March 13, 2017, at the St. Cloud Hospital. She attained 86 years, 10 months, and 17 days of age.
Donna is survived by her children: David (Marva Jean) Chevalier of Sioux Falls, SD, Ann (Dale) Stenseth of St. Louis Park, Kenneth (Sharon) Chevalier of Plainview, Sharon (Joe) Logan of Sioux Falls, SD, John (Louise) Chevalier of Prescott, WI, and Steve (Ginny) Chevalier of Paynesville; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Chevalier on May 9, 1983; and her parents, Clarence and Esther Uhr. Blessed be her memory.
