Daryles Molden

Service Postponed Until Thursday January 12, 2017.  Service will be at 11 am, with visitation for one hour prior, at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan.

Daryles W. Molden was born on March 24, 1934, at home in Edison Township on the farm in Swift County, Minnesota, to parents Amanda (Olson) and Selmer Molden. He was baptized and confirmed at the Big Bend Lutheran Church in Big Bend. Daryles attended country school and then Appleton High School. He joined the Military - National Guard in 1954. In 1955 Daryles was a Specialist E5 as part of the active duty through the United States Army until 1957. He served in the Korean War for 16 months. Daryles earned his GED while on active duty in the Military. Daryles was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Daryles attended the NCO Academy. He was honorably discharged from the National Guard on February 6, 1958 and was honorably discharged from the United States Army on January 31, 1963. At the time of his discharge he reached the ranking of (SP5) Specialist 5 in the United States Army Reserve

Daryles worked at Larson Gravel Company, the Milwaukee Railroad as a
track maintenance/laborer, Chippewa County Highway Department as a maintenance man, an attendant for Connelly Gas Station, and finally as a farmer in rural Milan. Daryles was united in marriage to Elizabeth (Betty Moe) on March 11, 1956 at the Big Bend Lutheran Church, because Kviteseid Lutheran had burned. This union was blessed with over 60 years of marriage. Daryles started farming in 1958. Daryles and Betty were blessed with three sons, Larry, Robert, and Mark, 4 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

Daryles served on the Edison Township Board for 25 years, the Milan Elevator Board for 9 years, the Kviteseid Lutheran Church Board as a trustee for 6 years and on the advisory Committee Board at the Canby Vocational School. He was a lifetime member of the Milan American Legion #359 and the Appleton VFW Post #4955. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, making clocks, toys, furniture, dancing, visiting with family
and friends and traveling. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He was called from this life on Friday, January 6, 2017 at his home in Edison Township. He attained the age of eighty two years, nine months and fourteen days.

Daryles is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Betty); his children Larry (Marie) Molden of Milan, Robert (Kim) Molden of Milan, and Mark (Renae) Molden of Alexandria; 4 grandchildren, Michelle (Brandon) Ascheman of Edgeley, North Dakota, Laura (Brian) Dallman of Revillo, South Dakota. Eric and Taylor Molden of Alexandria; 3 great grandchildren, Gavin Ascheman of Edgeley, North Dakota, and Josephine and Amelia Dallman of Revillo, South Dakota; and a brother Ellsworth (Violet) Molden of Holmes City. Daryles is preceded in death by his parents Amanda and Selmer Molden, three brothers Harris, Meredith, and Warren and one sister Eileen. Blessed be his memory.
