Lloyd Albert Schmidt

Lloyd Albert Schmidt was born October 30, 1929 at home in Hegbert Township, the son of Albert and Martha (Delgehausen) Schmidt.  He was baptized in November of 1929 and was confirmed April 18, 1943 by Rev. Gierke, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church –Shible Township.  Lloyd was raised in Hegbert Township, attending Parochial School in Shible Township through the Eighth Grade.

On June 5, 1982, Lloyd was united in marriage to Anne Novak Ascheman at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris by Fr. Dressen.  Lloyd and Anne lived and farmed on the Schmidt “home farm” in Hegbert Township.  Lloyd was blessed to call the Schmidt homestead his lifelong residence.  In addition to farming, he and his brother, Martin, co-owned Schmidt Implement in Morris from 1963 -1965.

Lloyd served in the Air Force in Korea from January of 1951 to October of 1954, as an Air Frame Repairman.  He was proud of his service to the country and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #4955 in Appleton and the 51 st Fighter Interceptor Wing Association. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church – Shible Township where he served in various capacities over the years.  Lloyd was a member of several church organizations, including LLL (Lutheran Laymen’s League).  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, bowling, machining, and traveling.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Anne of Appleton; step-children: Randy (Patty) Ascheman of Appleton, Lynette (Bruce) Wellendorf of Ortonville, and Bonnie (Rick) Helwig of Waumandee, WI; five grandchildren;  two great-grandchildren; brother, Martin (Dolores) Schmidt of Prineville, OR; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Martha (Delgehausen) Schmidt; and siblings: Waldo “Bud” Schmidt and Dorthea Moen.
