Derall Calvin Lagrange

Derall LaGrange, age 92 of Ramsey, formerly of the Appleton area, died Friday in Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.  Visitation will be 5 to 7p.m., Friday, November 4th at Zniewski Funeral Home –Vaala Chapel in Appleton.  Visitation will resume Saturday, November 5th from Noon to 1p.m., followed by the Memorial Service at 1p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton, officiated by Rev. Dave McCarty.  Burial will follow in Appleton City Cemetery.

Derall Calvin LaGrange was born September 12, 1924 in Appleton, Minnesota, the son of DeCarr and Rosebud (Morris) LaGrange.  He was raised in the Appleton area, graduating from Appleton High School, Class of 1942.  Derall was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton, by Rev. Clifford Nelson, on December 16, 1956.

On June 23, 1962 Derall was united in marriage to Lois Elaine Vik, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Waubay, South Dakota, by Rev. ES Vik.  This union was blessed with over 51 years together and two children: Paul and Rachel.  Derall and Lois farmed near Appleton, until his retirement in the fall of 1987.  He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, past Council Member at Zion Lutheran Church, the Appleton Lions Club, and Western Prairie Farm Collectors.  Derall enjoyed going to ballgames, visiting with friends, playing cards, working on his antique cars and tractors, and he especially enjoyed going to family reunions.  Above all, he loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

Derall is survived by his children: Paul (Charlene) LaGrange of Champlin and Rachel (Jeffrey) Koschmeder of Eden Prairie; 2 grandchildren: Andrew and William LaGrange; sister-in-law, Phyllis Swanson of Northfield; brother-in-law, Philip Vik of Sioux Falls, SD; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, on September 28, 2013; parents, DeCarr and Rosebud LaGrange; siblings: Lorraine LaGrange, Myron LaGrange, Harvey LaGrange, Grace LaGrange, Emily Lubenow, Avis Block, and Marjorie Schmidt; nephew, Richard Lubenow.
