Funeral services scheduled for Saturday December 17 are canceled. A memorial service will be held in June of 2017.
Chester Svea of Benson, Minnesota died on Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Swift County Benson Health Services.
Chet was born in Benson, Minnesota to Albert and Gina (Haugen) Svea on December 4, 1919. Chet served his country during WWII with the United States Army in Panama, India, China, and Burma.
He is survived by daughters Jo (Tim) Hanson of East Lansing, Michigan and Jill (Bill) Wargin of Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Chet is also survived by grandchildren Loralee (Tom) Deschane, Stephanie (Brett) Vander Bloemen, Brent Yates, Brooke (Bob) Bakken, Lauren Trimble, Mark (Molly) Wargin, Eric (Jenny) Wargin, and Lisa (Steve) Hartzfeld; and great-grandchildren Tony Deschane, Matt Deschane, Samantha Vander Bloemen, Lily Vander Bloemen, Avery Wargin, Parker Hartzfeld, Maxwell Hartzfeld, John Yates, Victoria Yates, Sam Bakken, and Ben Bakken.
Chet was preceded in death by his wife Arlene (Larsen) Svea; daughter Linda Winecoff; son William Svea; and grandchildren Carrie Bansund and John Yates. He was also preceded by his siblings Art Svea, Myrtle Pederson, Alice Johnson, Laura Nordby, and his twin brother Clarence (Kelly) Svea.
