Clarence John Lundquist

June 19, 1944 — January 25, 2016

Clarence Lundquist, husband of Deanna Aagesen Lundquist, passed away January 25, 2016 in the St. Cloud VA Medical Center.  A graveside memorial service will be Saturday, June 25th at 11:30AM, at the Appleton City Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Michelle Rowell.  A luncheon will follow at the American Legion Post #72 in Appleton.

Clarence was born June 19, 1944 in Hibbing, MN to Edwin and Margaret (Kilander) Lundquist. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. He graduated from Hibbing High School in 1962, where he won a National Merit Scholarship. He attended Macalester College graduating in 1966 with a Political Science Degree. Clarence served in the United States Army and after serving two years in Vietnam, he returned to school at the University of Minnesota Duluth. There he earned degrees in Social Studies and Business.

Clarence taught in Chatfield, MN from 1970-1972, then moved to Little Falls, where he taught until retirement in 2001. In 1977 he married Deanna (Aagesen) at St. Mary’s Church in Little Falls. They lived in Little Falls until 2014 when they moved to St. Joseph.

Clarence taught business and social studies classes, coached sophomore football for several years, served as a Governmental Relations Chair for Education MN, LF and Mid MN United. He was also on the Executive Board of the National Joint Powers Alliance, Risk Management Pool.
He was a founding member of Morrison County Pheasants Forever serving as Secretary and Banquet Coordinator until 2014.

Clarence enjoyed hunting and his black lab dogs, running, genealogy, and wood carving. He took several classes in Scandinavian Flat Plane figure carving and spoon carving. He carved at the Whitney Senior Center with the “Tuesday Carvers” and was a member of the Central Minnesota Woodcarvers Association.

Clarence is survived by his wife Deanna; sister, Vera Jean (Gerald) Marinucci of Grand Rapids, MN; niece, Laura Marinucci (Tom Topitzhofer); nephew, Christopher (Lisa) Marinucci; grandnieces, Abbey, Annalie and Kylie Marinucci, Matea Topitzhofer and the Aagesen family.
