Florence Edna Radtke

Florence Edna Radtke was born February 4, 1919 in Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota, the daughter of Fred and Anna (May) Ell.  She was baptized March 2, 1919 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Odessa, by Rev. Bartling and was confirmed April 19, 1933 by Rev. Janssen, also at Trinity –Odessa.  Florence was raised in Lac qui Parle County, where she attended Country School through the Eighth grade.

On April 6, 1941 she was united in marriage to Gerald Carl Radtke at Trinity –Odessa by Rev. Janssen.  This union was blessed with 56 years together and with three children: Gerald, Sandra and Geraldine.  Florence and Gerald raised their family near Correll, where they farmed for many years.  She was a member of the Flower Club, the Grace Lutheran Church Ladies Aid, and in her later years was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church –Appleton.  Florence enjoyed gardening, baking, traveling and playing cards.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Florence passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016 in Appleton Area Health Services –Care Center.  She attained 97 years, 4 months, and 3 days of age.  She is survived by her children: Gerald (Kathy) Radtke of Appleton and Sandra (Mike) Brustuen of Litchfield; 8 grandchildren: Dawn Radtke, James (Jenni) Radtke, Becky (Steve) Christie, Gary Radtke, Michael (Nicky) Brustuen, Steve (Amy) Brustuen, Michelle Brustuen, and Shawn Brustuen; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sadie Radtke of Appleton; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.  Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Carl Radtke on May 27, 1997; daughter Geraldine; parents, Fred and Anna Ell; parents-in-law, Herman and Augusta Radtke; sister, Lanora Monson; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
